POPIA Compliance
Last updated: 21 July 2026
Mzansi Connect processes personal information in accordance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This notice explains how, and sets out your rights as a data subject.
Lawful basis for processing
We process personal information to perform a contract with you (running your account, bookings, or business listing), to respond to your enquiries with your consent, and to meet our legal obligations. We only collect what's needed for these purposes — see the Privacy Policy for the full list of what we collect.
Your rights as a data subject
- To be told what personal information we hold about you and why.
- To access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information.
- To object to processing, or to withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent.
- To lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe we've handled your information unlawfully.
Security safeguards
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted internal access — to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and disclosure.
Cross-border transfers
Some of our infrastructure providers may process data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we require contractual safeguards providing a level of protection at least equal to POPIA.
Information Officer
Our Information Officer is responsible for POPIA compliance and can be reached via the contact form below. (Registration details and direct contact information for the Information Officer to be added here.)
Complaints
If you're unsatisfied with how we've handled a request or complaint, you may contact the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
